After recently announcing a renewed partnership between Project C.U.R.E. and Newmont, about 50 Newmont employees and family members came together at Project C.U.R.E.’s warehouse in Colorado to learn about volunteer opportunities and to send off a container of medical supplies for medical clinics near our Ahafo mine in Ghana. The container was packed by Newmont’s legal department staff, who spent four hours loading approximately $400,000 worth of medical equipment and supplies.
Attendees at the event visited several information booths demonstrating the lifesaving work Project C.U.R.E. does around the globe. “This is an awesome partnership and an even more awesome group of people,” said Tarrah D’Arenzo, a long-time Project C.U.R.E. supporter and Newmont employee.
The container’s first stop will be Houston, where it will be loaded on a ship destined for Accra, Ghana. Upon arrival, Newmont will transport the container to the mine site for unloading, sorting and delivery to nearby health facilities before the end of the year.
