From the Military to the Mine

Working at a mine might seem like a big jump from serving in the military. However, we think military experience sets our employees apart. United States Armed Forces men and women are dedicated, hard-working and get the job done.

We value the experience military members bring to our team, and we’ve been recognized by Spike TV’s Hire A Veteran Honor Roll and’s 2012 Most Valuable Employers for Military for our efforts toward providing job opportunities for veterans.

Many of our open positions are for mechanics and drivers at our Nevada operations. It’s an opportunity to utilize military skills and develop new skills that can lead to a long-term career. Devin is a 22-year-old combat veteran who recently made this transition. Now driving Newmont haul trucks at our Nevada operations, Devin was recently featured on NBC Nightly News.

Every story is unique. Matt recently transitioned from his position as Senior Manager of Investor Relations in Denver to being the Chief of Staff for our Senior Vice President of African Operations. He spent seven years with the U.S. Marine Corps before starting his career at Newmont three years ago. “It is an exciting time to be at Newmont and this is a great company to call your own,” said Matt. “For a successful transition, I would say be open and eager to learn.”
