At Newmont, one of our core values is to continuously demonstrate safety in every job we undertake. This week, Newmont joined a number of other major U.S. mining companies to announce its participation in CORESafety, a scalable safety and health management system recently endorsed by the National Mining Association’s (NMA) board of directors. CORESafety provides a comprehensive pathway to achieve, within five years, the elimination of fatalities and reduce the rate of mining injuries in the U.S. by 50 percent.
As a mining community, we believe that collectively we must demonstrate our commitment to modeling the leadership and culture required for safety excellence.
CORESafety is the result of nearly two years of industry-wide collaboration and is built on the most effective workplace practices used worldwide to stop accidents before they happen.
Safety remains a core value at Newmont, and we remain committed to achieving our goal of a fatality- and serious injury–free organization. The CORESafety system will complement that goal and the innovative work Newmont is already doing around our Safety Journey and other programs.
CORESafety’s purpose is to improve safety performance across mining operations in the U.S. We invite you to visit the CORESafety website to learn more about the framework and how it contributes to good business.
